What is a Lab Report?
A lab report is a document which describes a scientific experiment. It provides a formal record of the hypothesis, methods and outcomes of the experiment. While using a clear, precise language, enough detail should be given to allow the reader to replicate the experiences if desired.
How are CBD products tested?
The most common test (run by a third-party lab) is to test for cannabinoid profiles. While using specialized testing techniques like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the concentration of cannabinoids including CBD, THC, CBC, CBG, CBN, CBL, CBDV, and others can be quantified. This is used to confirm that the amount of CBD listed on the product is accurate.
The cannabinoid profiles are also important to verify the THC content is as advertised. If the THC levels are too high, this can make the product(s) become psychoactive.
DELTA-8 THC: The Rare Newcomer
Delta – 8 THC is a rare cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. Because Delta – 8 THC is so rare, it is often manufactured and converted from CBD. While Delta – 8 THC and Delta – 9 THC are relatively similar, Delta – 8 THC is less psychoactive and more stable.
Like CBD, Delta 8 – THC is also a cannabinoid. The most significant difference between CBD and Delta 8 – THC can be found in Delta 8 – THC’s background. Delta 8 – THC is known for its anxiety-reducing and psychoactive effects, resulting in the “high” that many consumers may experience due to consumption or inhalation.
